I am beginning to wonder if anything ever goes right?
I recently paid $150.00 to have my fax machine brought up to date. Thanks to Sorenson and the new numbers, my distinctive ringing is all fouled up. Impossible to straighten out. After I paid, I found out that my fax still does not ring appropriately. I cannot tell it from any other call. :(
So, my dentist failed at letting me know that my appointment was canceled. I drove all the way to Astoria only to be told to come back next week! Then on the way home a semi with 2 trailers (a cement truck) jackknifed on the highway (two lane highway) and traffic was tied up for a very long time. Thank goodness for my Blackberry, my grand daughter, Leah and I were able to compare problems. Little Joey lost one shoe. Adrian was a brat downtown when he didn't get to go on all of the rides that he wished. And ME STUCK in traffic, thank God for air conditioning!
Poor Grandma. Poor GREAT-grandma! At least we are going to have a good dinner tonight. With my state of mind I hope I can enjoy it!
Weather is great -- windy, but sunny and more like "beach weather". Leah pulls the two little boys around in my John Deere wagon that Joe gave me for my birthday years ago, to haul veggies from the garden.
I am looking forward to my TempurPedic in a couple of hours and my housekeeper and her son will start tomorrow!
Until next time, Lantana

"Music Within"
Please see the movie, "Music Within", 2007. It is a lovely movie if you can overlook the F words! It involves the instigator of the ADA Law and is extremely touching.
I actually knew Art Honeyman, he used to come to dinner at Woodstock House where I moonlighted during the summer months and on weekends. He was married at the time. He used a pencil in his mouth to type out words for his books. But that was years ago, I can imagine that he graduated to more sophisticated writing methods.
CP people have always held a fascination for me. I ache for them. I am so glad I had so much contact with the people that I did, their lives are not easy.
Hugs, until next time, Patty/Lantana

Heavy Hearts
This old gal has been around for a long time. I have outlived many of my students! And I can truthfully say that I have never seen so many people with depression and heavy hearts. You turn on the t.v. and you get 99 1/2 % bad news. You try to change the channel to something light and cheerful (such as Jon and Kate Plus 8) and find that the news media has ruined that program, too. I joined Netflix, hoping that picking out my own movies might be a plus, with nothing forced on me, but many of the Netflix movies are not closed captioned and I send them back without viewing the full movie.
True, we deafies are so much better off than we were 50 years ago when counting our new conveniences. I often count my blessings.
Personally I find a great deal of comfort in my backyard with my flowers. When a big windstorm comes my way and flattens the Lupins, I tell myself that they will come back next year. I smile when I see the many lady bugs and give a sigh of relief when I see the bees doing their job. Mother Nature is grand!
When I am relaxing (when!) my two cats take their places on my lap and often Lenny my Solomon Island Eclectus parrot will join us. Lenny is the boss and the cats do not dare step out of line or they get a fat lip!
