'Long time! I was waiting to find a subject that I could sink my teeth into, but have been too busy with my veggies, my flowers and cleaning up the mess after we had the outside of our home professionally painted. 'Great job but what a mess! When the painter scraped the old paint off, our coastal winds blew the chips hither and yon, so we are not the most popular people in our neighborhood right now!
I am waiting for LaRonda's posts on how she lost her hearing to be completed. I think stories about how we became deaf will be interesting fodder to most of us, but do not want to compete with anyone! All of our stories are unique, to be sure. There is room for all of us.
I worked with LaRonda at WSD and I have to mention that she has done a wonderful job of rehabing herself. Such a bright, cheerful woman but definitely not a Pollyanna.
I hope you all are enjoying your summer. Fall is our best season here, summers are usually pretty windy and I am usually outside rescuing my Lupines!

Thanks for reading my stories, Lantana. I look forward to stories from others as well. Does this mean you'll be posting some of your own? That will be fun to read.
ReplyDeleteI am personally enjoying the ASL series called The Creation of VisMa from Charles Katz. I'm am completely hooked! I dig ASL storytelling.
Thanks for the nod in my direction. My stories will complete on Aug. 8th. Hope it has been a good summer read.
I also appreciate the description of me as NOT a Pollyanna. Thank you. Many people have this picture that I'm this "goody-two-shoes" kind of person because of the posts I put up on DeafRead. but as you know, there are many faces of LaRonda.
Mike Schmidt had the opportunity to listen in on some of the wicked humor I share with some of my coworkers. I think this is true for many of us. We all have so much more about us than what we see on DeafRead alone.

You were right that LaRonda wasn't a Pollyana which I had thought till after I read her comments she gave to other deaf bloggers. But still she's a nice person. Same thing with my mom's cousin.
ReplyDeleteI had been thinking about writing a story in my blog about what kind of our neighbor was and I guess I had better do it now. I don't mean to point my finger at him but I'm expressing my feeling. I would spray the water from the hose at him next time!
And I really enjoyed reading LaRonda's blogs about her illness and hearing loss. I'm looking forward to her next new posts.
ReplyDeleteHi Lantana,
ReplyDeleteYou are back?! Welcome back! I missed reading your posts.
Just wanted to say hi and I missed you!
Hugs

Thanks, Guys and Dolls! I did not realize that anyone would have missed my absence!
ReplyDeleteI hope that Lisa C posts in her blog about her neighbor. I have my own theories about neighbors, but since I cannot hear, it is more convenient just to ignore them.
I want to share my experience with going deaf too, but I am in no hurry, and my missive will be nothing like LaRonda's elaborate tale because I was only ten years old and still just a child.
Hugs to all of my online friends. Life get's in the way sometimes, but I am not finished yet!

I did posted in my blog about our neighbor and it had gotten into the deaf read extras. We have been ignoring them till he started making a mess on our house side, windows, shed and fence by spraying his fence with his power spray machine removing the weathered wood chips. He doesn't realize what he had done to us.
