Well, well, another month has gone by. I guess I am one of those "once a month" people? At my age, once a month is better than nothing!
'A little family excitement. My married granddaughter's car was stolen from a theatre parking lot, when they exited the movie their car had vamoosed, but the thieves were nice enough to pile up the baby carseats and personal things out of the car first and left on the pavement. The next morning the police found the car "professionally chopped up". A close friend of mine who is a Wa. State Patrolman said it was the most professional job he had ever seen! Yes, it was a Honda, and had been customized.
Spring Break is over and my younger granddaughters have come and gone. It was nice to be waited on, instead of my doing all the work. Their ages, 13 and 17 were just right this time and they were able to walk downtown and on the beach and go to the movies on their own. Isn't it great that kids nowdays can text home letting Grandma know everything is okay?! And that they are ready to be picked up from the movie? We 3 had one meal a day OUT. This is because the older girl is a vegetarian and I thought it would be easier on ME if she had a more comfortable choice of victuals. Actually, I am somewhat of a vegetarian myself, and fortunately we have a large selection of fish here on the Coast.
My Funny Farm might be sold. I have received an offer and with a little work from my lawyer, it may happen. I will carry the contract for 5 years and then be cashed out. There is still 4 acres of empty land tho that is also for sale. It has two road frontages and a woman vet is considering it for a brand new Veterinary Hospital. She was interested several years back when it WASN'T for sale!
I have been out and about in my yard, but my CTS hand will not allow me to use pruners yet. I am going to try something different the next time we have a decent day. I have not yet had the left hand done, and I understand from deaf friends that I might be able to have a "bandaid" operation on the left side because it is not as far advanced as the right side was.
I planted a row of Broccoli on the South side of this house, it is a cold weather crop, and I have never tried growing it here, only at the farm, so I am anxious to see what happens. My Vietnamese next door neighbers eyes are glowing! Such nice people, and so talented, their yard should be a layout in a magazine! I wish they would invite me for brunch, or at least to sample their Kim Chee! I love Kim Chee.
Thanks to my buddy Banjo's influence and advice, I now have a new t.v. and BluRay. I am enjoying it alot and appreciate the fact that I have Netflix so I know what is Bluray and what is not! My young granddaughters were very helpful with the installations and making their poor Grandma understand what was happening! What's Greek to me is a walk in the park to them.
So perhaps I will not have to wait a month to write in my blog again. Spring has sprung with lots of interesting things happening.
To friends, family and otherwise: I am doing okay. Losing a large part of your life takes a big toll, but we women are strong and eventually there is a rebound ------- somwhere. Thanks for caring.

It's always great to hear from you. I have tried planting broccoli for the firs time this year too. We'll see how it does.
ReplyDeleteI have been planting broccoli for many years. The taste of home-grown broccoli cannot be beat! They are heavy feeders and you will not be able to use that spot for anything else, other plants seem to shy away from broccoli. When cutting your broccoli spears, do not slice straight across, but at an angle, this encourages new shoots. Good luck. Yum yum!
ReplyDeleteHi Lantana! Oh Lantana! Yes, Lantana!
ReplyDeleteI miss you, dearly.
Wow, that was crazy about the car being stolen. We had a fantastic time during Jes' spring break in Iceland for sure, it was amazing experience for us.
Ugh, sorry but I'm no fan of broccoli, not at all! I can eat 'em, yes but hate 'em so... Jes love broccoli, tho. That's cool about growing them at home, that will save bunch of money!
OMG.. what?! Are you frickin' kidding that you now have Blu-Ray knowing the fact that we still haven't gotten one?! What's wrong with this picture? :-P
Well, we will get new TV and BluRay later on once we settle in with his new job at hospital after this summer, can't wait.
Anyways, good to know that you are doing good and yes Netflix rocks! We've been member of Netflix since 2003, woo hoo.
