Oil Can Henry's

A few years back, Hubby and I were thrilled when we read that Oil Can Henry's was building a brand new site just a few blocks from our beach home. We formerly had to go all the way to Astoria to have an oil change, so this big news made us feel warm and fuzzy inside. What an improvement for our town!!

I was thrilled to death the first time I used these new facilities, gee, you stay in your car and read a free USA Today, file your fingernails and wipe off the driver's side of the car with handiwipes. What service! How lucky can you get??

Right? Wrong! This place is pure torture for a deaf woman. These guys bombardier you with mysterious automomotive lingo, they bring out their clipboards with serious and determined looks on their faces. Me: "I just want an oil change". Attendant: "But ~~~~~~~~~~~"(?) Me: "My husband told me to get an oil change period!" Attendant: (Waving mysterious looking devices around) "~~~~~~~~~~".

This happened every single time I went for an oil change, so my husband, feeling sorry for me, took over that icky chore.

Now I am stuck! I went to Oil Can Henry's recently and wound up driving out on them without having anything done. I went back to our old haunt, an oil changing place owned and operated by Russian Immigrants and who treat me kindly with sincere and helful body language!

Problem solved!

  1. Oh, geez! Perfect to have a body language to commuincated with that Russian guy. Glad he know you better. Whew! Something that you need him to fix change oil than before you were stuck last time. I recalled

I will send you a email later.

  2. Boy, nice of them being nice to you.
I hate having the oil change at the Ford dealership because they twist my hand saying either of our car need some work. One time he said that we needed a new battery and I said not yet so I later got the battery check at Sears and the guy said it was still good.
When I got at the Ford dealersip, I told the guy that I wanted the oil chane and lube, nothing else and he accept it.

  3. Love them or not you have to salut OCH for this....Oil Can Henry's offers scholarships for qualified applicants for each of their (80) plus locations. This is what their scholarship guidelines indicate. It's a straight up and fair to all scholarship program which should be considered for those high school seniors graduating in one of Oil Can Henry's participating communities. It's not a nationwide type program by any means. You don't have to even major in a particular field of study in college to receive this scholarship. In fact you are eligible for the Oil Can Henry Scholarship Program even if you plan to attend an accredited vocational-technical school or two year community college. This is very generous of Oil Can Henry's scholarship program.
