My husband, Joe almost always did the vacuming in our household. Being that we have two floors here, it is pretty tiring job. Luckily I had the foresight to buy an Oreck, and they are light and easy to carry up and down the stairs. Somewhere along the line I started a vacume cleaner collection! Dustbusters, cannisters, small plug ins for the stairway, and a cord-free upright for small jobs down in the laundry room. I couldn't live without my Dustbusters!
An online friend tipped me off about what he was buying, so I did alot of research and decided I had to add to my collection!
Meet "Jeeves" my new iRobot Roomba! His name-sign is a "J" on top of your wrist where the "work" sign is.
My whole family was so excited and my adult grandkids programmed it, so it wasn't until the last couple of days that he and I got to know one another. It takes awhile to find the places where iRobot will get stuck, and being deaf, I cannot hear his distress call, so I kind of try to keep him in my sight and if he disappears for a long length of time, I know he is yelling for me from a corner somewhere!
At first he would get stuck under the sofa, an end table was just the right height for him to slip under and get "hung up". Today since I had planned the cleaning in advance, I shoved my bread board between the sofa and the end table. Problem solved.
The best thing about this guy is that he keeps that evil dust under your bed and sofa from accumilating! The first time I used him under my bed, I found 2 earrings and a cat toy in his belly! I have not yet taken him downstairs where more bedrooms are and another bath and the laundry room. I did some research beforehand and Amazon has the best deal with plenty of freebies to boot!
On another matter our city gifted us with another recycling container. It is huge and has a bright red top! So I hid it in the garage, which should work out okay because there will be no "wet" refuse to stink up the place. Painted on the top is what you CAN and CANNOT place in the container. Most things you can, except glass. This morning I cut myself washing out a cat food can! Grr. I am still learning! These new barrels will be picked up only every other week and I have already noticed a huge reduction in my regular garbage can. Of course my garbage disposal is a big help, too.
So, at 75 years old I am still learning and enjoy every second of it!
Your's, Lantana
